Terms of Service

For the LMY Church app (com.lidetachurch.app).

These terms are the agreement between you and Lideta Mekaneyesus Church (“the Church”, “we”) for your use of the LMY Church app. By installing or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.

1. What the app is

LMY Church is a free app provided by the Church for its congregation and for anyone interested in its ministry. It offers church news and events, a daily verse, a Bible reader, Bible-study groups with in-app messaging, quizzes, sermons, audio and video teachings, and worship books. We may add, change or withdraw features at any time.

2. Your account

• You may browse as a guest, or create an account with an email address, a Google account, or a phone number.
• Give accurate information and keep your sign-in details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
• Do not create an account for someone else without their permission, or impersonate another person.
• If you are under 18, use the app with the knowledge of a parent or guardian.
• Tell us at melkatole1@gmail.com if you think your account has been used without your permission.

3. How to behave in the app

The Bible-study groups and message boards are part of the life of a church. When you post, you agree not to:

• harass, insult, threaten or bully another member;
• post sexually explicit, violent, hateful or discriminatory content;
• post content that is unlawful, defamatory, or that infringes someone else's copyright or privacy;
• use the app for advertising, selling, fundraising or political campaigning that the Church has not approved;
• share another person's private information without their consent;
• spam the groups, or attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to the service;
• misrepresent the teaching or the leadership of the Church.

Group leaders and church administrators may remove messages, remove members from a group, and refer serious matters to the church leadership or the authorities.

4. Content you post

What you post stays yours. By posting it in the app you give the Church a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and distribute it inside the app, so that it can be shown to the members it is meant for. You confirm you have the right to post it. We may remove content that breaches these terms, and we may keep copies as needed for backups and for the record of a group.

5. Our content

Sermons, teachings, articles, images, audio, video and worship materials in the app belong to the Church or to their authors and are provided for your personal, non-commercial and devotional use. You may share the app's public content where the app offers a share option. Do not republish, sell or redistribute it otherwise without permission. Bible texts and third-party works remain the property of their respective publishers and are used under their terms.

6. Reporting content

If you see something in the app that breaches these terms, report it to your group leader or to melkatole1@gmail.com. We review reports and act on them, usually within a few days.

7. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms or that puts other members at risk. You may stop using the app at any time and may ask us to delete your account — see Delete your account. Sections 4, 5, 8 and 9 survive the end of this agreement.

8. Availability and disclaimers

The app is provided “as is” and free of charge. We do our best to keep it available and accurate, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and content may occasionally be out of date. Views expressed by members in group discussions are their own and are not statements of the Church. The app needs an internet connection for most features; your mobile operator's charges are your own.

9. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Church is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app, or for loss of data or content stored in it. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Third-party services

The app relies on Google Firebase, Google Sign-In, our administration backend, an SMS provider, and links to third-party media such as YouTube. Your use of those services is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

11. Privacy

Our handling of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top of the page shows when they last changed, and significant changes will be announced in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms.

13. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and disputes fall to the courts of Ethiopia. We would much rather resolve any concern by talking first.
